Up North Adventures

Hello! Hope you are all enjoying your weekends! I just got home from being "up north" for a family get-together. For us Minnesotans, up north means anything north of St. Paul/Minneapolis. We happened to go up north to Grand Rapids, MN. Haven't heard of it? Not surprised ; ) Think "North Country"- the movie with Charlize Theron where they work in the mines and the women sue for sexual harassment. That's where I was, ladies; The Iron Range. What a glamorous life I lead...

So first things first, Friday we get to our hotel, the Timberlake Lodge. It's nothing fancy; rustic but nice...

Our room
Cool Bar

The HUGE bathroom. It was much larger than it appears in this photo. I was lovin' it

Happy me. I approve.

Saturday we soaked up everything Grand Rapids had to offer (I hope you're sensing my sarcasm here). In addition to being famous for it's Iron Ore, Grand Rapids happens to be the birth place of Judy Garland.

Naturally, we took a tour of the Judy Garland Museum, which includes the house she was born in, clothing and jewelry that belonged to Judy and artifacts from "The Wizard of Oz", which happens to be one of my favorite movies! I'm lucky my boyfriend is so easy going!

Here's her house:

It was actually really cute and fun to see! Here are some of the other gems of the tour:

The carriage from "The Wizard of Oz"

Me and Dorothy's dress from "The Wizard of Oz"! I was excited.

Now back to hotels. Saturday there was a little mishap with our hotel reservation and we had to find another hotel to stay in. No big deal, right. WRONG! Ladies, what I am about to show you may be a bit disturbing. Don't say I didn't warn you. This is what I saw when I walked into the room at "The Sawmill Inn" (no joke, that is what it's called)...

The room had not been updated since about 1970 and had a very southwestern vibe, if you will. I was horrified- I felt like I had just stepped into a scene from "No Country For Old Men" and that Javier Bardiem was around the corner with that airgun. My boyfriend was a good sport and posed for some pics so you can really get the full effect:

Needless to say, I was happy to pull into my driveway today. Dorothy was right-there really is no place like home.

Weekend re-cap

Hey ladies! Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Mine was...eventful. I finished up my summer class on Friday morning and celebrated by going out for Mexican (my fave!) that night with my boyfriend's sister, her husband and their two adorable children that I love to pieces!

Saturday we had a couple's wedding shower to go to for one of my boyfriend's co-workers. This is what I wore:

Wedding shower
I picked this dress up at Target of all places on Saturday morning and I'm so glad I did- it is super comfortable and really cute! Best $20 I've spent in a while! I LOVE a good deal.

And this is how I spent my Saturday night...
Real exciting and classy, I know.  But my sister has been staying with me for the past 8 days so naturally, I was in serious need of a cocktail. The little brat had the nerve to take AND post this lovely picture of me on Facebook for all the world to see... So glad she documented this.

*Quick tip: Add Sprite Zero and a splash of lime juice to your Skinny Girl Margarita. It's delicious, I promise!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I love the 60's

I think I was born in the wrong decade. I adore 60's fashion; the hair, the make-up, and especially the clothes. Love it all.

Can we bring this back please?

Well isn't that Pinteresting?

So I've been hearing a lot around the bloggy world about Pinterest and how amazing it is. I finally decided to check it out to see what I have been missing. Oh. My.Word. Ladies, I have lost hours of my life to this site. In one day I went from signing up for an account to having 6 (yes 6!) boards made.

Let's see, there's my "Lovelies" board, my "Christmas" board, "For the Home" board, "Style" board, "Craft Ideas" board and last but not least, my "Wedding" board.

That's right, I said Wedding. No, you didn't miss anything- I'm not engaged nor am I planning a wedding but my "Wedding" board has the most pins of them all... Clearly there is no shame in my game. Does this make me crazy? Desperate? HA HA- I guess I don't care. By the time this guy pops the question  I'll have my board to refer to and  it will be smooth sailing from there.

I'm kidding, but I'd like to invite you all to crazy town and share pieces of my wedding board. It's going to be beautiful...

 This is completely normal, right???

Have a wonderful day, ladies!
